Lesson 6

Reflection on Lesson 6

Today is the last week of practice on our day, because next week is the perform day. Teacher give us something to let each group do some last practice and after that teacher will called all each group present one by one. The reason for that was because teacher want to see whether each group did correctly on their dance or not.

After a shot time of practice, each group start to present. And my group is the third group, after present teacher said my group’s dance didn’t show clearly different between hip hop and contemporary dance. Also our dance didn’t show flexibility and relation to dancer which we had choose to be our performance skill and techniques skill.

Lesson 5

Reflection on Lesson 5

Today was the last week of my group and I could practice on our dance, therefore, we work very hard on our dance. We think lots of movement and idea, just hope we can finish planing the whole dance.

After some time of practice and thinking, teacher called my group and gave us some comment. Teacher wanted us to complete our rubric and also the worksheet that teacher had already put on blog.Teacher said the rubric was very importance, because without the rubric teacher cannot gave us our mark on our dance, even we dance very prefect, without the rubric we will still get a zero. Therefore, teacher wanted us to completed the rubric before next class with the worksheet that teacher had put on the blog, because the worksheet can help our dance on idea.

  • tempo – can help to organised the speed of dance with the music, let the music can mix with the dance. Tempo also present the send of music and dance.

2. Natural Rhythm

  • Meaning – natural Rhythm is a rhythm that create automatically, such as breath and sensed time
  • Sensed time – the dancer need to know when to dance next movement by follow his or her feeling, sensory.
  • Dancer can listen to the music and know too, or by looking at other dancer

Lesson 3

Reflection on Lesson 3

Today, teacher start the class with usually (warp up), and after warn up, teacher gave us only 20 minute to prepare our dance. Because after 20 minute we need to present our dance to whole class to show our process of dance to teacher.

In the 20 minute my group and I tried hard to create as much as movement as we can, because one of my group member had absent at that day, and the group member that absent was like a group leading of our group, so we need to think even more. Notably last week was our check point exam, therefore all the grade 9 student was tension on preparing on the check point exam, and we didn’t pick up time to particle and create movement on our dance. Soon after 20 minute pass, teacher called group by group to came out and present.

Our task for this week was find which type of hip hop dance we want to dance, because there are few type of hip hop dance we can dance.

Lesson 2

Reflection on Lesson 2

Today teacher wanted us start to create the dance movement and confirm what dance and music did your group want. So my group members and I sat down together and discuss about the music of dance, and the movement.

The two type of dance our group decided to dance is hip hop and contemporary dance, and the music we chose was BAE BAE for hip hop, and I’m not the only one for contemporary dance. 🙂

When my group and I were discuss about the music and movement, teacher came to us, and gave us more information about what to do for our dance. Teacher said that our dance don’t need to match to the music, so we don’t need to care about the music first. And before teacher go, teacher gave us a task which is to completed at least 20 movement for each type of dance.

After teacher went, my group and I stop discuss about the music and start to create the movement. But at the end of the class, we didn’t complete the task that teacher gave to us. We only done 10 movement for a dance. 😦

The picture above show the composition in dance, each dancer had different movement, but it also show relationship between each dancer. Some dancer was lay down on the floor and some half stand, and some stand up. And it create the effect that show it was slowly growing up.

 Reflection on Lesson 1

Today was the first class of quarter 4, Teacher start the class by leading all class to do some warm up. I felt relax when doing warm up, however, there were some movement that was difficult to me to completed. Such as, sit on the floor and hold both leg up with hand, to form a “V” shape.

About 20 minute later, teacher stop the warm up and play some different type of music. Teacher wanted us to dance with the music, with any dance movement. A lot of students felt shy and afraid to dance with teacher leading, (including me 😦 )

Teacher was unhappy to see all the students standing at a place and do nothing. teacher told all the students to dance freedom and there was no right or wrong movement for that , we only need to dance, don’t need to care anything. After that, me and my friend were try to dance by listen to the music, but we didn’t think out any movement to dance out. Although I didn’t participate in that, I still have some thought of that, I felt the activity is quite same as street dance, because street dance is also dance with freedom by listen to music.

After the activity, teacher start to tell us, our unit title, key concept, assessment and other. And our assessment for this quarter, was create a 2 minute dance, and the dance can’t match to the music. To do this assessment, teacher wanted all the student to make a group with 4 people in a group, and discuss, and chose two type of dance. I soon make a group with my friend that around me, which were Cindy, Shye Y’ng and Asuka. After discussion, my group decided to choose contemporary dance and Hip Hop.

Key word of today and this unit – Juxtoposition

Definition of Justoposition :   Join two or more thing together, purpose is to                                               devoloping compare and contrasts

Juxtaposition example

In the picture, have two different part in the picture. The black and white part show the bomb’s smoke, and the part that is in color show a beautiful scenery with blue sky, green tree, white cloud and other.

This picture show Juxtoposition, because, if we look closer, we will know that the tree and bomb’s smoke are join together. The green thing present the tree top part, and also the bomb’s smoke top part. The smoke present the bomb’s smoke and also the stem of the tree. The picture put tree and bomb’s smoke together and compare them. Therefore, it was Juxtoposition.


Question for today lesson: How can we change boundaries set by society?

This question is quite hard to understand and answer it, therefore, we break the question down to make the question more easy to answer. After breaking we will get a main idea of the question, which is change boundaries. How can we change Boundaries? We can change boundaries by being unique from others, don’t follow other people footsteps. We can also change boundaries by breaking the tradition and change live style. There are a lot of ways to change boundaries, and the ways I mention above is just little.

Now, go back to the original question, How can we change boundaries set by society? I think people can change their boundaries by the pressure that give by society. Example, for a person to get a great job, the person need to study hard and work hard, so the person will become more hard working to achieve his goal. Except that, a person can also change boundaries by the people surrounding  the person. Example, a person doesn’t like exercise, but the person have a group of best friend that like to exercise, so slowly the person will get effect by the friend and like to exercise.

The 5 photograph above are connect to the 3 Newton’s Law. The force cause the dancer to spin perfect and stay on air for few second. The third law occur at the first, second and third photograph, the dancers push force to each other in order to make themselves can do the movement stable without fall, because as the dancer push force to other dancer, the dancer will get the same force back from the other dancer. And the push and pull force will be balance and let the dancers do the movement stable.


The video above takes when I am practicing my dance movement. This video let me understand that there is still a lot of improvement that can be done better, because the video let me see and know the people feeling when seeing my dance and also the movement that is not good in my dance movement.

Lesson 5

In lesson I am absent, and from my friend and teacher blog, I know that in lesson 5 we should take 3 photo for dance and 5 photo for visual art. And the 3 photo of dance should be related to the Newton’s law. Since I am absent for class in Lesson 5, so I am going to take 3 photo from my partner in order to complete the task for the lesson 5. And the picture below the picture I take from my partner.

The three picture contain the Newton’s law. My partner is doing the movement with other people. And she had successful doing and take the 3 photo and complete the task. :> For example, the first picture the Law that used is second law, because second law is about gravity and force, the force create impulse to make the flyer stay on the air for a time.

In other hand, the second picture is also caring movement, but the law that use is not second law, it is third law – action and reaction. The reason is because the flyer who need to stay on the air will create the push force to the base, and the base will need to pull it up to make sure the flyer doesn’t fall down and hurt her.
